- 1). Click the Windows logo on the taskbar to open your Start menu. Type "event viewer" into the Start menu search bar, then press "Enter" to open the Windows Event Viewer.
- 2). Double-click "Event Viewer (Local)" in the left pane of the window to open it if there is no information listed below its label.
- 3). Click "Windows Logs" in the left pane of the window to open a list of Windows log categories in the center pane.
- 4). Double-click "System" to open the System Event Log.
- 5). Click "Find" on the right side of the screen to search all events. You can also save events to a file by clicking "Save All Events As...".
