    • 1). Power on your computer, and repeatedly press the "F8" function key during start-up. Pressing this key interrupts the regular start-up process to display an Advanced Boot Options screen.

    • 2). Use the keyboard's arrow keys to highlight "Safe Mode" and then press the "Enter" key. This starts Windows with only core components loaded. Once the operating system has started, a "Desktop" dialog box displays and asks if you want to continue operating in safe mode or to run they System Restore component.

    • 3). Click the "No" button on the "Desktop" dialog box to launch System restore. Allow a few seconds for the component to load on your screen.

    • 4). Click the "Next" button on the initial "System Restore" dialog box. The next screen contains a list of restore points ordered by date.

    • 5). Click to highlight a restore point of your choice, and then click the "Next" button. When choosing a restore point, it is wise to look at the "Date and Time" column to confirm you are choosing a point in time where your computer was working properly.

    • 6). Click the "Finish" button on the final dialog. This action restarts the computer and begins the automated restoration. Once completed, Windows will automatically load in normal mode with your existing programs and documents intact.
