The Alamo, which is the site of an 1836 battle in which 189 defenders were killed as a result of attacks by Mexican Gen. Santa Anna's army, includes a museum and library. Guided tours are available, and admission is free but donations are requested.
- 3). Mingle with wildlife at San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium. Your family can view more than 3,500 animals representing 600 species at the 56-acre park. In addition to animal enclosures, the zoo and aquarium feature rotating exhibits that have included interactive programs for young children, interpretive guides and discovery stations.
- 4). Visit The Aztec Theater in downtown San Antonio, where your family can experience a pre-show that includes special effects, flames, lights, lasers and a giant snake, followed by a nostalgic short film as well as educational and extreme-sports films.
