Spring Break in Dallas: Museums, Art, and More Fun Activities for Kids
Wondering what to do with the family over spring break? How about a staycation when Spring Break rolls around mid-March? The DFW area has many great things to do over the break from school. Here are a few fun things the entire family will enjoy -- right here in our own backyard.
What: 2014 marks the return of Free Family Fun Week. It's an informal program designed to bring families together to engage in conversations about American art and artists. The museum’s educators will be stationed in the galleries to interact with families and help make connections between artworks and the natural element featured that day. During Family Fun Week, the atrium is filled with art materials so that children and adults can get creative. Cookies and lemonade are provided.
Reservations are not necessary, but parents are encouraged to call 817-989-5030 or email visitors@cartermuseum.org for helpful information and parking tips or to learn more about the Family Loyalty Program.
When: Tuesday, March 11–Friday, March 14, 2014 from 10:30 a.m.–noon.

There's no need to break the bank on your Spring Break 2014 activities. Admission to the Dallas Arboretum is only $10 for children ages 3-12 and free for kids under 3. Pack a picnic lunch (bringing your own food will save a ton of money). The kids can play on the Texas-themed playground in teepees and mud huts down by the lake. Bring the camera and your Easter finery for photos among half a million blooming tulips, daffodils, pansies, azaleas and more. The bridge in front of one of the Cottages is the perfect place for your official Easter photo. BYOB: Bring Your Own (stuffed) Bunny.
Activities during Spring Break 2014 include Mommy and Me Monday on March 10 and Tiny Tot Tuesday on March 11.

What:The Dallas World Aquarium is an incredible attraction--the perfect adventure for kids of any age. The indoor adventure begins at the top of the Orinoco - Secrets of the River rainforest exhibit. The upper levels showcase birds and mammals--ranging in size from small Vampire bats to large Antillean manatees--that share the rainforest with amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates and fish.

Check out the lions and tigers and bears (oh my) take the 20-minute monorail safari through the Wilds of Africa exhibit. You wanna iguana? Experience one of the best reptile and amphibian exhibits in the U.S. in the Pierre A. Fontaine Bird & Reptile building. Tigers, cheetahs and cougars are popular these days so visit The Hill to see what's new at the zoo.

What: D&B's Million Dollar Midway contains numerous electronic, skill and sports-oriented games. Many simulator games such as formula race cars, fighter jets and motorcycles, and a golf simulator. Retro favorites like Ms. Pacman and Galaga plus shuffleboard and billiards.

9. Euro Bubble
If you're looking for a place where your kids can burn off some energy, I have just the place. It's called Euro Bubble and it's at Grapevine Mills Mall. It's a place out in the middle of the mall where humans get into little plastic bubbles that are filled with air and sealed. They run like hamsters in a ball over a pool of water. It's hilarious. The cost is $10 for 5 minutes and $7 for 3 minutes. I gave them $20 and my 7-year-old was worn out by the end of the run. There's not a phone for the business, according to the Grapevine Mills office. Euro Bubble, Grapevine Mills Mall near Ross.
