Stop setting up yourself up for failure What do I mean by this? don't set unrealistic goals for yourself, thinking this wont work but I'll give it a try anyway.
A good example of unrealistic goals would be deciding to start a strict diet just before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you are like me and most people the holidays are almost all about food.
Or seeing some exercise program on TV with amazing results, but requires a big time commitment that you know you are not able to do, but because of the amazing results you see you decide to give it a try.
Find a system of weight loss that you can comfortable do for the rest of your life.
A good weight loss program or system must be easy to maintain; it doesn't require you to buy foods that are too expensive or not readily available everywhere or equipment that are cumbersome or boring to operate.
Let me give you an example.
When the Atkins diet was all the rage I tried it.
The idea of eating all the Steaks, Bacon and Chicken I wanted.
Well that sounded pretty good, at first.
I lasted about three weeks before I got sick of eating nothing but meats.
Even though I lost some weight I knew I definitely could not do this long term.
The other thing I did was I bought a Total Gym again it seemed like a good idea at the time.
It came highly recommended by some friends.
I must say it's a great piece of equipment to work out on, it gets the job done, if you use it.
But I found it so unbelievable boring I almost never did.
Set a realistic weight goal for yourself and always keep track of your progress Knowing what your starting weight is and knowing what your maintained weight will be.
Plus continually monitoring your progress so you can adjust if or when necessary.
I know that sounds simplistic but believe me a lot of people start a diet, lose some weight and after awhile they plateau.
They continue the same routine with no adjustments.
Yielding them very little results.
People that have followed these tips have seen remarkable results in their ability to lose weight and more importantly keep it off.
Of course, these tips are just the beginning.
It's amazing to me, that with all the information we now have about weight loss and the different alternatives that's out there, we make losing weight so difficult.
