How to Revive a Dying Lilac Bush
- 1). Test your soil. Most soil is either lacking in calcium or contains too much acidic materials. You can buy inexpensive soil testers at most department stores or garden centers.
- 2). Cut back on fertilizer. A dying lilac bush may be caused by over-fertilization. Sometimes you just need to let nature take its course.
- 3). Allow for proper drainage. Drainage is important. Lilacs do not like over watering. Too much rain can "drown" your lilac bush and cause it to die.
- 4). Put the mulch away. If you have mulch around your lilac bush remove it as soon as possible. Mulch traps moisture and is a perfect breeding ground for fungal disorders.
- 5). Consult a professional. If you still cannot revive your dying lilac bush consult experts at your local garden center. They maybe able to provide you with some tips and tricks to help bring your lilac bush back to life.
