He did not take long to show the world that he was for real.
With everything going for him, Michael Vick was quickly becoming one of the NFL's all time greatest quarterbacks, putting him up there with notable greats like Montana, Elway, Staubach, Graham, and Namath to name a few.
There's no doubt that Michael Vick will be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame someday, but will his love of dogs, or dog fighting overshadow all of his achievements? Michael Vick was indicted by a Grand Jury for allegedly running a dog fighting ring, called "Bad Newz Kennels.
If convicted, he could serve as much as six years in prison and a $350,000 fine.
In the indictment, Vick is said to have arranged, financed and bet on dog fights, going back to 2001.
Is this the Michael Vick that everyone knows? Dog fighting has been around since the early 19th century.
It used to be found mainly in the South, but today you can find some form of it all over the country.
It no longer is gaining popularity over the past decade.
According to the Humane Society, who is the leading body trying to eradicate this type of activity, there are over 40,000 people involved in this inhumane sport.
Dog fighting is against the law in all but two of the fifty states.
Will this new light push those two states left to ban this activity?Only time will tell.
