  Long hair is eye-catching, appealing and feminine. While it may require a bit more maintenance than short hair, that doesn't mean that it needs to be difficult to style. There are several ways that you can cut your hair, while keeping the length, and many ways to style that fit your mood or a look that you are trying to achieve.
  
  

Carefree

• There is a carefree quality associated with long hair that is worn loose. If you have straight hair, add interest and volume by having layers cut into it, or with a side-swept bang. Get a just-been-to-the-beach look by applying gel to damp straight hair, flipping your head over and scrunch and tousle it. If your hair is long and naturally curly, simply apply mousse to it while it is damp and scrunch it. These styles are attractive and fairly easy to achieve.
  
  

Bohemian Chic

• Whether you have curly or straight hair, you can achieve this trendy style. Simply style your long locks as you normally would. Part your hair down the middle. On each side of your part, create a small braid. Pull the braids to the back of your head so that they meet in the middle - halfway between your nape and your crown. Use a small hair tie, a bobby pin or a decorative clip to hold the braids in place.
  
  

Braids

• Braids are a classic look for long hair and are an attractive way to keep your hair off your neck or away from your face. Part your hair in the middle and pull all of your hair back, forming a ponytail at the nape of your neck, braid it and secure with an elastic. Another option is to create pig tail braids. To achieve this look, part your hair in the middle. Gather the hair on one side of the part below your ear and braid it. Repeat the same process on the other side.
  
  

Ponytails

• Ponytails are another attractive way to tie your long hair back. They can be either playful and worn on an evening with the girls or while running errands, or they can be sophisticated and worn for an elegant affair. To create a playful look, brush your hair back and pull it all up on top of your head so that it sits on your crown. Secure with either an attractive hair tie, or you can use a plain elastic and use a piece of the hair from the ponytail to wrap around the elastic. For a sophisticated ponytail, part your hair to one side and pull all of your hair to the side opposite the part. Create a ponytail by using a ribbon to tie your hair just under your ear. Pull the ponytail forward over your shoulder and pull a few tendrils loose to frame your face.
