I Can"t Meditate! What"s Wrong With Me?

103 48
So you've recently tried meditation for the first time, or you have been meditating for a while, and you've come to the conclusion that you are simply unable to meditate.
For whatever reason, you just feel it isn't work for you.
What can be done? Well, let's address this...
The likely cause of the problem is that you are approaching meditation too much as a technique that you must get right.
This in itself can be the very thing that stops you from getting the most out of your meditation practice.
As the great Eckart Tolle once said, "In order to meditate successfully, the IDEA that you are DOING A MEDITATION can actually be quite an obstacle.
" So, the issue here is to not to approach it as something to be achieved or a task to be completed or a technique to be perfected.
Instead, let's go back to the drawing board, so to speak...
Just sit comfortably, somewhere quiet and peaceful.
Just sit there, either with your eyes open or closed.
Just BE.
Just relax.
Just BE AWARE.
Be aware of whatever IS.
This could be you breathing, your thoughts, your immediate environment, your inability to relax, your inability to stop thinking.
All these things can serve as things to be aware of, without judgment; and it is this non-judgmental awareness which is the real key to meditation.
Just accept everything as it is, and don't try to change anything.
It is this approach/attitude that is far more important than trying to perfect any particular technique.
Thy key is to not to TRY to make anything happen, or not to try to make anything NOT happen, but to just relax, and be as aware as possible of what IS.
