- 1). Attack fresh ink stains with warm water before attempting to remove them with other household chemicals. Use a cloth or paper towel and blot the ink stain until it is removed. Fresh ink stains are easier to get rid of if they haven't settled into the fibers of your leather item.
- 2). Perform a preliminary test with isopropyl alcohol on a small area of your leather accessory that is hidden from view. Wait 10 to 15 minutes for any adverse effects such as discoloration or peeling. If you notice any changes, cease your method and take your item to an expert to avoid further damage.
- 3). Continue with the rubbing alcohol removal method only If your leather item passes the preliminary test. Soak a cotton ball with the alcohol and dab it on the ink stain until most of it is transferred onto the cotton ball.
- 4). Rub the cotton ball in a circular motion on the remaining ink stain. Repeat the process until the stain disappears. Depending on the severity of the stain, this might take several tries.
- 5). Replenish lost moisture by adding a few drops of leather conditioner to a cotton ball and rubbing it where the ink stain used to be. Doing so will help preserve your item for a longer period of time.
