Are You a Fair Weather Person?
Who will support you through thick and thin? There are many things that happen to us in this lifetime and sometimes we are not always in charge of what goes on or the outcome of things.
There are few people who will actually be there through the good times and the bad.
There are many 'fair' weather friends and even family members out there who, when times get tough, may end up not being as supportive as you think they should be.
It's easy to say that you will be around for someone when things are going great for that person.
Even in your own life it is easy to be happy and have faith when you are in good health, all your relationships are working out, and you have money in the bank.
What about when things go the wrong way and life comes at you and catches you off guard? When the going gets tough, you may be surprised about who will still be there at the end of the day.
I don't mean to sound so negative about this but ultimately it is true.
There are very few people who will stick it out and get pushed to their maximum with you.
There are all kinds of chaos and problems in the world today and life isn't always fair and just.
When your situation turns sour you have certain people who will be there and certain people who will not.
I was introduced to this concept the hard way in the form of an ex-wife and current girlfriend.
I'm in the process of changing careers.
I'm getting out of the Marines after 12 years and am constantly being questioned about whether or not I will be able to make the same salary.
I keep telling everyone yes I will and then some but the ex-wife is skeptical as to whether or not I will continue to be able to pay the child support.
The current girlfriend is worried about not ever being able to get a bigger house and start a family.
No matter how much I tell them everything will be OK: despite the economy, changing careers, and an uncertain future; they don't believe me.
My point is to take note of people in your life and know that there are some who will stick by you and some who will not.
Also look at yourself and ask yourself that same question.
Will you be there 100% for others who are struggling or will you be that same 'fair' weather person?
