There are many types of campers. Within that group there are even many different types of camping enthusiasts. You have some that are very high tech who do everything they can to bring modern technology with them to the great outdoors. There are others that are very back to basics, right down to their tarp tents.

Being a fan of taking the back to basics approach means relishing every technology free moment that you can get your hands on. It means building your camp fire, and catching your own fish for dinner. Instead of bringing the comforts of home with you, you opt to rough it and live off of the land. A very basic tent to protect you from the elements is all you are looking for.

While taking that approach may seem foreign and crazy to some, for others it is just the break they need from the world in order to realign themselves and relax. Technology and modern comforts can be great, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. For some they find that once every few months they have a strong sense of sensory overload with all of the technology around them all the time.

Of course, that can go the opposite direction as well. Some people find the idea of roughing it to be too far over the edge. Going without technology can be scary for people that have not known any other way. For a person that has known cell phones as a way of life, it can be frightening to not be able to make a call whenever the thought occurs to him.

The use of tarp tents are wonderful and basic camping supply. For those that are out for a real outdoors experience it may well be the number item on the packing list. For those who want to experience the outdoors, but not reside there, then other more modern camping gear exists. This is where a simple tarp tent can help as well.
