How To Keep Children Entertained During Your Camping Trip
Bringing children camping can be a very exciting time for both you and your child.
Children are always very interested in exploring new things.
No matter what kind of camping trip you are planning, your children should be the center of it all.
Children are full of energy so having lots of activities or other things to occupy their time and deplete their energy is a good idea.
Going for walks, bike rides, playing catch, building sand castles and swimming are the types of activities that will keep your children occupied and help them have a good nights sleep.
Bring bikes to explore the camping area, walking trails can be a great way for you to get some exercise and teach your children a little bit about nature and some of the different types of sounds and smells.
They can also see some of the different types of animals in the outdoors.
Children can get very excited about seeing squirrels, birds, deer and chipmunks in the wild.
Their reactions from their first encounters are priceless.
It is been our experience that a trip to the beach will keep your children busy all day, they probably won't want to go back to camp.
It is always a good idea to bring shovels and pails to build sand castles or maybe even a truck or car they can push through the sand.
Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and give them lots of water throughout the day.
Although we always hope it does not rain during our camping trip, going prepared makes all of the difference.
Having rain gear and boots for everyone is always a great idea.
Once the rain stops they will want to play outside and are going to get dirty, be sure to bring lots of extra clothes and a pair of rubber boots.
Having movies and music (DVD's or iPods) can help pass the time in bad weather, although board games, cards, crayons and coloring books, story books and games can also help occupy time in bad weather.
Clothing is one thing you can never have too much of.
It doesn't seem to matter how much you bring, they seem to get them all dirty.
Packing enough clothes for all weather conditions for each day can help a lot.
An extra pair of shoes and sandals will come in very handy.
It never fails, that one pair of shoes will get wet and during the evening when the mosquitos come out it is a good idea to have dry socks and shoes to cover their feet.
Towels are another item that you can't have enough of, from towels for drying hands and showering to beach towels, this is an item that we use all of the time.
Bringing a clothes line to hang between trees to dry all those wet clothes and towels is definitely worthwhile.
Another item that is usually overlooked is a First Aid Kit.
This should contain your standard items such as band-aids, tape, gauze and peroxide.
You should also include any allergy medications or other medications that your children may be on.
Also include cold medications and any others you may need.
If you are unsure about if your children have allergies of any kind, talk to your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Ask about bee stings and bring whatever is suggested.
If needed, you will be glad you took the time to pack your First Aid Kit, and add the extras to it.
