Tipping a Hair Stylist at Christmas
- 1). Determine the cost of your appointment and consider the time your stylist spent on your hair. For long appointments, consider leaving five to ten percent more than you normally would for average length appointments.
- 2). Increase your normal tipping amount by 10 percent. For example, if you generally leave a tip of 15 to 20 percent, instead leave a tip of 25 to 30 percent.
- 3). Consider tipping what you would normally spend on one session. If you meet with your hair dresser once a month for a trim and typically pay $20 per session, pay a $20 tip.
- 4). Leave a gift instead of an additional tip if you have a good relationship with your stylist. If you consider this person a friend, a hand- selected gift can be a welcome alternative to a cash tip.
