Basically the storyline picks up from where the Brood War storyline left off many years ago.

So for those die hard fans who know all about the first game and for those who have been keeping up to date with the Ghosts of The Past guides that may be available you will know that previously, Sarah Kerrigan was about to be left to her own fate, when from the Hyperion, the order came down from the Terran Dominion leader for Jim Raynor to leave the planet.
Sarah was in the middle of a battle against the zerg swarm and calling for reinforcements.
So now it seems that Jim Raynor's intentions are to destroy the Terran Dominion, and take over their entire forces, and it is no wonder why.
Appearing as a mercenary but leading a dedicated group of Terran soldiers, he pushes into battle to claim his dominance.
Of course it is not just dominance that Jim Raynor is focused on.
It is also that very day when Sarah was left to perish at the hands of the zerg swarm and the day she was ultimately betrayed by the Terran Dominion Leader, Arcturus.
Somehow Jim feels responsible for this, and as Matt Horner tries everything he can to make Jim understand that it was not his fault that Sarah was left to die, and he is also reminded that the ultimate revolution cannot be about vengeance, it is all about freedom.
He is left with the option to return and lead them to freedom when he has thought things through.
Aside from the Starcraft 2 Ghosts Of the Past guide and trailer being touted as a cinematic masterpiece, it is a short and very riveting video that has a little of everything, including a visit to the past to refresh the minds of those who were there, and also to bring those new to the game up to speed with the events that have led to this point.
Filled with action, drama and stunning visual effects, this is an excellent preview of the upcoming trilogy of Wings of Liberty, Legacy of The Void, and Heart of The Swarm.
