How to Calculate Square Feet for Cleaning
- 1). Measure the length of the building in feet. Measure the building on the outside if possible.
- 2). Measure the width of the building, in feet. Measure on the outside if possible.
- 3). Multiply the length of the building by the width of the building. This is the square footage for one floor.
- 4). Multiply the square footage for one floor by the number of floors you have in the building. For example, if you have two floors and the measurement for one floor is 900 square feet, then two x 900 square feet = 1,800 square feet.
- 1). Draw a rough shape of your house on a piece of paper. This does not have to be to scale since it's for your visualization only.
- 2). Divide the house into square and rectangles. For example, if your house is L-shaped, divide the house into a square and a rectangle.
- 3). Follow Steps 1 through 4 in Section 1 for each section of the house. For example, if you divided your house drawing into a square and a rectangle, find the square footage for the rectangle and then for the square.
- 4). Add the square footage of each section. For example, if your square is 500 square feet and your rectangle is 900 square feet, then your house is 500 + 900 = 1,400 square feet.
