Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House

• The Butterworth Center & Deere-Wiman House, located in Moline, is 6.5 miles from Silvis. Overlooking the historic Overlook District, it consists of homes belonging to the John Deere family. Constructed in 1872, the Victorian-style Deere-Wiman House sits on a 7-acre property with formal gardens, a children's playhouse and a three-story carriage house. The interior of the home features an elevator installed in the 1890s, a 19th-century spa shower and an early 20th-century Kimball pipe organ. Four generations of Deeres called it home. Colonel Davenport House

• Colonel Davenport House sits in Rock Island, Illinois, 8.5 miles from Silvis. Constructed between 1833 and 1834, the wood-framed home represents the achievements of George Davenport, a man who grew from being a settler to a prominent businessman in the community. The home served as the epicenter of commerce, particularly the fur trade. Davenport was murdered in 1845. The home fell into disrepair during the latter part of the 19th century, but in 1907, Davenport's granddaughter founded a group that repaired the home's interior and exterior. • Built between 1877 and 1878 by Edmond Atkinson, the Rock Island County Historical Society consists of community members intent on preserving county history. Located 8 miles from Silvis in Moline, the former home of Burton Peek (1872-1960) is in the city's historic district. Peek served as the president of Deere & Co. and lived in the home until his death. Mrs. Charles Deere Wiman purchased the home and donated it to the historical society. Also known as the Atkinson-Peek House and Carriage House Museum, the Colonial Revival-styled home contains a library of historic documents. The interior features original woodworking, antique furniture, a fireplace with its original white tile and a dentist's office.
  
  

B.J. & Mabel Palmer Mansion

• B.J. & Mabel Palmer Mansion is 9 miles from Silvis in the city of Davenport, Iowa. B.J. Palmer (1882-1961) is considered the father of chiropractics, although his father, D.D. Palmer, started studying the inner workings of the spine. Sitting on the Palmer College of Chiropractic campus, B.J. and his wife, Mabel, lived in the mansion from 1912 until their deaths. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the mission-style mansion contains a collection of artifacts that chronicle the history of chiropractics as well as the history of the family. The interior features an Aeolian-Pipe Organ consisting of more than 1,000 pipes and handcrafted furniture dating back to the early 20th century.
