Powerpoint Animation Cleaning

    Animation Schemes

    • Unlike other programs, when you are testing animation schemes in PowerPoint, you may not realize that the animation is immediately applied as a part of a slide without any confirmation dialog, such as an "OK" button. This can cause a lot of unintended animations to reside in a PowerPoint presentation file without the user's knowledge. In most cases, these animations are applied using the standard animation schemes offered by the program. Removing them is just as easy as the way in which they were applied.

Launch the animation schemes pane on the right side of the program. Choose the "Slide Show" menu and choose "Animation Schemes." Choose a particular scheme to apply to the entire presentation. Alternately, choose the "No Animation" option at the top of the window to completely clean all animations out of the PowerPoint file. Then press the "Apply to All Slides" button at the bottom of the animation pane. This cleans out all the animations that were applied to individual slides and also prevents different slides from using different schemes, which may disorient an audience.

    Custom Animations

    • It is possible to override animation schemes or create your own using the "Custom Animations" controller pane. Cleaning out these animation settings takes more time, since they are added on individual slides and cannot be configured for the entire presentation. However, you can quickly see which slides have these settings by viewing the Slides outline pane on the left side of the screen, which is displayed throughout the creation process. If a slide number shows a little star icon under it, that slide has a custom animation applied.

Click the slide and then choose the "Slide Show" menu and the "Custom Animation" option. On the right side of the screen in the "Custom Animation" pane, click on the first custom animation setting listed. Press the "Shift" button on the keyboard and then click the last setting displayed. Then press the "Remove" button at the top of the pane. The custom animations are cleaned from the slide. Repeat this process for any slide displaying a star under its slide number.
