Finding Touch-Up Paint for Your Car

• 1). Write down the make and model of your car. For example, you are driving a 2006 (year), Honda (make) Accord (model).
  
  
• 2). Locate the paint code for your car. The easiest place to find this is usually on a sticker that is placed inside the door frame of the driver's front door. The sticker or metal tag will have a lot of information about your car, including information like when and where your car was made. You may wish to take a photo of the tag for reference instead of writing down all of the information.
  
  
• 3). Call your car manufacturer or local dealer. You can order touch-up paint directly from the manufacturer of your car by providing them with your paint code. Because the location and meaning of the codes vary by make and model, a customer service person from your specific car company will assist you in locating the appropriate code for the color you need. Paint codes may be several digits long followed by a letter. If the car is two-tone, there will be two paint codes and a U (for upper) or L (for lower).
  
  
• 4). Order your paint. Your paint will usually come in what looks like a small glue or nail polish bottle, and there will be a brush inside the cap for application.
  
  
• 5). Go to an auto parts store if your car maker or dealership can't order your paint for you. Each touch-up paint brand will have a book in which you can look up the year, make and model of your car and which paint is the closest to what you are looking for.
