How to Fix a Disc Read Problem With a PlayStation 3
- 1). Press the "Eject" button located on the front of the console adjacent to the disc drive and pull out the disc. Set it aside.
- 2). Power off the console and unplug all cords connected to the PlayStation 3.
- 3). Spray a can of air three to five inches away from the vents of the console. Move the can in a sweeping motion several times over each vent to clear out dust.
- 4). Plug the cords back into the console. Power on the PlayStation 3.
- 5). Insert a Blu-ray disc cleaner into the PS3 disc drive. Scroll to "Video" on the PS3 Cross Media Bar. Scroll down to the disc-icon and press "X." Follow the prompts to run the Blu-ray disc cleaner.
- 6). Eject the disc from the console.
- 7). Insert the game into the console and attempt to play it again.
- 1). Press the "Eject" button to remove the game from the PS3.
- 2). Hold the game in one hand with your fingers gripping the edge of the disc and the underside facing up. Look for any smudges or scratches on the disc.
- 3). Place a pea-sized amount of toothpaste on a dry, soft cloth.
- 4). Wipe the disc from the center to end in a straight line. Do not wipe around the disc in a circular motion. Repeat several times over scratched areas.
- 5). Wipe away the toothpaste with a damp cloth in the same straight-line motion. Allow the disc to dry. Insert it back into the console.
