How to Make Your Blog Immune to the New Google Updates

105 20
If the last two updates of Google's algorithm, Panda and Penguin, had any impact on your blog, then you are now looking for ways to recover and to make your own online platform immune to their penalties. Fortunately, there are some techniques that, if you apply them correctly, the blog will escape from the rank lowering caused by either low-quality content (Panda update), or the over-optimized structure (Penguin update).

On one hand, the Panda update did a very good job by reducing the rankings of farming websites, where users could submit very low quality content just to obtain a backlink towards their own websites. Such farming websites were ranked higher because the quantity of the content and the keyword stuffing, but because the quality of the information provided to the reader was sometimes nonexistent, the Panda algorithm lowered their rankings heavily. Also, websites that were promoting a spam attitude, with lots of advertisements on page and low content, were penalized. Do you have quality content on your blog? If you are aware of the fact that your posting quality should be improved, as you are offering not enough information through your articles, then you should start improving right away. Also, make sure you will remove the lowest-quality of the articles, or to improve those articles to become of high-quality.

On the other hand, the Penguin update lowered or even completely removed the importance of the links targeting a certain website, if the SEO marketer or the webmaster of that website used over-optimization techniques like keyword stuffing within the article, unnatural keyword positioning and stuffing the anchor text of the backlinks with keywords. Because this could never be a fair tactic of rising the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) rankings, there is some recovery to do, by starting a new link building campaign and ensuring that you follow the natural rules of linking instead of the artificial rules of SEO. This means that in order to remove the risk of the Penguin Update, you must work your articles naturally, without stuffing them with keywords, but instead focusing on what the visitor sees and understands.

Also, when doing a link building campaign for your blog make sure you use keywords as the anchor text rarely, and focus on using the domain name or simply generic terms like "here" or "my blog".

There is no need to despair if your blog got hit by one of the updates; there are solutions, it is just that they require time and practice to be applied.
