Breath.
One of the most common methods for women to deal with stress and pain during a natural childbirth.
Breathing.
Focusing on the flow of air into and out of the body.
A conscious controlled effort to slow down and take control of the breathing process.
With each intake of air we open up our body to new possibilities and when we let that air escape we allow ourselves to let go and trust the Universe to provide for our needs.
It is a powerful tool that connects us with the world around us.
With the simple exchange of air we actually become part of the Universe and it becomes part of us.
We gain strength from being part of something bigger than ourselves.
Remember this.
Remember when you are in labor that you are part of something powerful and amazing and that you can accomplish anything.
Get in the habit of focusing on your breath.
Notice how it speeds up when you are upset.
Feel your chest rise and fall.
Notice that your breath also quickens when you are passionate and excited about something.
Can you recall a time when you were completely overjoyed? Did your breathing change then? There is absolute power in the breathing process.
A focus on breath is a major component of meditation.
Remember back to when you were a small child.
What would your mother or father say when you got worked up over something? Was it a simple command to, "Take a deep breath, and settle down?" Many times that is all it takes.
Just a nice deep breath to allow your body to relax.
When a person can connect with their breath and learn to control it, they are able to truly relax and connect with their inner self.
This skill is a powerful tool to have during labor.
Women who can align their body and spirit and use their breath to relax their body can create a calm birth experience.
Take a moment, next time you are fully enjoying life, to remember what your breath feels like.
Memorize the motion.
What does the flow of air feel like? When you are in labor you can come back to that moment--that feeling of bliss--and make it happen again by mimicking the same pattern of breath.
Breath in, breath out, relax and enjoy your labor.
It is possible.
Remember, with each breath you take you are connecting with the Universe.
It will provide for your needs.
You just need to breathe and believe.
