How to Make a Beach Chair Out of Fondant
- 1). Sprinkle 1 tbsp. cornstarch to lightly dust a smooth surface for this project. Roll a 3-inch ball of white fondant with a fondant roller or rolling pin. Roll the fondant until it is 1/8-inch thick.
- 2). Cut out two window shapes with a 2-inch window cutter, which is curved at the top. A rectangle cutter that is 2 inches tall and 1 inch wide can also work for this chair. These two pieces are the bottom and top of the seat.
- 3). Press a frosting knife into one of the window pieces, 1/4-inch from the bottom of the squared edge. A slight indentation is fine. It will serve as a guide when assembling.
- 4). Dust your smooth surface with 1 tbsp. cornstarch. Roll out another 3-inch ball of white fondant with the fondant roller until it is 1/4-inch thick. Cut out two squares with a 1 1/2-inch square cutter. Cut a 1/2-inch square out of each center of the squares for the chair's slats, using a sharp knife.
- 5). Allow all the pieces to dry for easy assembly. This should take about 20 minutes. If you need the chair sooner, place the pieces into the refrigerator for five minutes.
- 6). Brush fondant glue into the indentation of the bottom seat piece and place the other seat piece into it so it forms the back of the chair. Allow it to dry completely. Brush fondant glue along the area where the two sections of seat meet, approximately 1-inch in each direction.
- 7). Press a square piece into the glue so the bottom seat is at a 45-degree angle, facing downwards. Allow it to dry completely. Turn the chair over and brush glue onto the seat, 1-inch above and below where the sections meet. Press the remaining square piece to the seat, so it is even with the other square. Allow it to dry completely.
