Change Is A Good, Though Home Improvement Is Better

Visually pleasing yet still functional. This is the mantra when undertaking home renovations. From carpet installation to kitchen and bath remodeling, we try to combine aesthetics and practicality to bring our dream home out into reality. Craftsmanship is greatly appreciated though, personally, convenience still triumphs.

When one speaks of home improvements, more often than not, people relate it to
bath and kitchen remodeling. Probably because the bath is one of the most personal rooms in the house while the kitchen---is its center. From the soothing lukewarm water of the bathroom to the simple yet tasteful comfort food prepared in the kitchen---from my standpoint, these areas give solace. But from a businessmans POV, this gives high ROI.

Be it contemporary or traditional, home remodeling requires detailed planning and impeccable execution. Sad to say but DIY aficionados have restrictions too. Well start from the bottom and work our way up.

Fiddling with the flooring? Before you do any further fiddling, be certain that all measurements (including door frames) have been taken down and that the furniture, the rundown carpet, padding and strips are taken out. Remember that the amount of skill needed to do this project depends on the room dimensions. Spacious rooms often require power tools, I suggest leaving that one to the professionals. Bring your scribbles down to a local carpet dealer. Carpets are frequently put up for sale in 9foot, 12foot and 15foot width. If possible, request that the carpet be trimmed and seamed by the dealer for this part may prove difficult. But for the true DIY, who will tirelessly cut and seam the carpet by himself, I advise that you buy a fabric with an allowance of at least 3 to 4 from the exact measurements. Use tackless strips to hold the carpet in place. When laying the carpet, note that the seams must be situated in a less conspicuous place. You dont want people to notice the seams and overlook the carpet. If worse comes to worst, there is always a professional, waiting for your call, ready to assist. Keep in mind that carpet installation is the best way to guarantee that your floor coverings exhibit all of the beauty of their designs.

Now to tackle one of the big guys---the kitchen. To be honest, I would rather get kitchen remodeling services than to do an entire kitchen renovation by myself. This is hard work and admittedly, help is needed. From selecting the layout to the installation of appliance products in the work center, keen planning is a must. Ill be discussing a few of the basics with regard remodeling kitchen ideas. First, let me raise the work triangle. Said triangle is composed of the fridge, the sink and the stove (be it situated in an L, V or U figure). For efficiency, these three are installed in this scheme to avoid getting in someone elses way and to easily move food from preparation to cooking to serving and to cleaning. The stovetops, microwaves, cabinets, fridge and dishwashers are permanent fixtures. No matter what the model is, no kitchen is complete without these things. Note that if you have limited space and limited budget, that will certainly regulate your ability to renovate your space.

Lets now proceed to bath renovations. Tubs or showers? With or without windows? How about mirrors? Do I want to reposition the toilet and the tub? To get or not to get plumbers? How about contractors? These are some of the reservations raised when remodeling a bathroom. Just like the kitchen, remodeling in said room will be dictated by the space and budget one has. One may possess an over elaborate design though same cannot be executed due to the lack of space or funds. The model, brand and features of bathroom fixtures will surely influence the flow of money in the project. Plumbing can be tricky, one may opt to get a contractor to do the job. There are a lot of contractors out there, however there are those who runaway with your deposit and not finish the mess theyve created. If you have time, do a little background check.

In home improvements (as a rule), you must first determine who will do the remodeling, would you hire a contractor or DIY? What exactly do you need? New fixtures or less fixtures? Most of all, know your budget and hopefully stick to it. If you have a little money to spend, I suggest you buy high quality fixtures so that it wont break on you after a year or two of usage. Lastly, remember to show your personality through the renovations, remodeling or improvements you undertake.
