- 1). Check a world electricity chart for the voltage and plug style for the country you are visiting.
- 2). Determine the voltages that your PDA's power supply can use. Power from the wall in the United States is 110 volts AC. Most of the world operates at 240 volts AC, so check that your power supply can handle 240 volts. It will be marked on the power supply.
- 3). Purchase a dual-voltage power supply from your PDA manufacturer if your power supply can't handle the voltage of the country you are visiting. One simple way to kill two birds with one stone is to order it from the manufacturer's website in the country you plan to visit---that way you end up with the correct plug prongs too. Have it sent to your hotel with "Arriving Guest" marked on the shipping label.
- 4). Determine the type of plug used in the country you are visiting. There are many different prong layouts, and some countries use several. Purchase a travel plug kit at your departure airport or online. Make sure it includes the plug you will need.
- 5). On arrival, find Wi-Fi access. In the United States, you tend to find them in chain coffee shops throughout cities and suburbs; in many foreign countries, you will find dedicated Internet cafes--often around railway and bus stations. The words Wi-Fi and Internet are now international words, so just look for them on storefronts. Your device will connect in just the same way.
