More Game Ideas for Bridal Showers

My sister recently got married, and just before her bridal shower, I wrote an article on games played at showers. Of course, during the shower, I discovered a few other games as attendees talked about games they played in the past. Here are a few of those:

Anagrams

At my sister's bridal shower, we used her name and had guests rearrange the letters to come up with words. The person with the most words received a prize. In some cases, though, the bride's name may not work as well. In that case, you can also use a list of wedding-themed words. Have guests rearrange letters in each word and come up with a list. Again, the most words created wins a prize.

Penny

Another popular game is one of chance. Before the guests arrive, place a penny under one seat, or one seat at each table. Later during the event, announce that the person sitting on a chair with a penny under its seat wins a prize (at our event, it was the centerpiece on each table that was given as a prize).

Wedding Dress

You'll need several rolls of white toilet paper for this game. Have guests divide into two or more groups. Each group will choose a model and the rest of their group must design and create a wedding dress out of the toilet paper. The bride chooses the winner.

Clothes Pin

As each guest arrives, each is given a clothes pin and instructed not to mention the groom's name during the shower. If someone catches someone else saying the name, the catcher takes the clothes pin of the person who says the name. At the end of the shower, the person with the most clothes pins wins.

Guess how many

Fill a jar with candy, marbles, plastic wedding rings, anything small. Have each guest guess how many of the item are in the jar. Have them write their guess and name on a piece of paper. The person with the closest guess wins the jar or a prize.

Dates

Similar to the Recipe game I wrote about in my first article, have each guest write on a card their birthday and wedding anniversary (if applicable). After all guests have arrived, the card with the date closest to the wedding day wins the prize, but also the bride has a collection of important dates of our guests.

In closing, I think it would be helpful to mention a few items that make great gifts for the various games played at bridal showers: candles, lotions, bath salts, gift certificates, coffee mugs, decorations, photo albums or frames, nail polish, stationary, calendars, coasters, and key chains. Gifts can use appropriate colors or themes to match the bridal shower.
