- Sleep on your side (prevent the tongue from touching the throat) - Elevate the head on your bed.
You could use a number of pillows to achieve this.
- Avoid certain foods.
Milk products (cause mucus to build up) or rich foods(cakes, pizzas, fizzy drinks ) - Clear your nasal passage especially if you are blocked up.
- Try a little honey before you sleep.
- Do not have a big meal before sleeping.
If the stomach is full it will limit the passageway for breathing.
- The Tennis Ball Trick.
If sleeping on your back is making you snore, attach a tennis ball to the back of your sleeping top, which will make it uncomfortable for you to sleep on your back and will help you develop a habit of sleeping on your side.
- Sing more.
Research has shown that singing or music can help control the problem by increasing muscle control in the throat and soft palate, so off you go, get bellowing! These are just a small few ways you can prevent snoring.
Snoring can become a persistent problem, very annoying, leading to further health problem.
You need to start (as I did) to find out why you are snoring and deal with it.
