Pet Care for Tree Frogs

104 83

    Size

    • Tree frogs range in size from 1.5 inches for the green tree frog to 5 inches long for species like White's. Tree frogs can live more than 10 years and like being with others of the same species.

    Diet

    • Tree frogs should be fed live insects, such as mealworms and crickets dusted with a pure calcium supplement. A vitamin-mineral dust should also be added once or twice a week. Adults should be given several crickets every two or three days, while young frogs should be fed every day. Filtered, chlorine-free water should be provided fresh every day.

    Tank

    • Tree frogs like to climb, so they should be kept in tall glass tanks with tight screen lids and provided with artificial plants and driftwood branches. A tank should be kept out of direct sun. Although there should be a range of temperatures in the tank, a basking lamp should be used to help keep daytime temperatures between 75 to 88 degrees F, and around 68 at night, depending on the species. Different species also have different humidity requirements.
