The Hidden Danger of Carbohydrates, Sugars and Grains In Your Diet

The common misconception is that people become overweight either by simply eating too many calories or too much fat. But these simplistic ideas have been shown to be false by the latest nutritional science. Many people failed to lose weight by following the standard advice of 'eat less and exercise more' because that advice was wrong. It's impossible to lose weight when your blood sugar levels are too high and this new way of tackling the issue is revolutionizing the health of millions of people by providing real results with relatively little effort.

In their quest to lose weight, people have unwittingly been working against themselves. They've been trying to eliminate fat from their diet and in the process been consuming more and more sugar, carbohydrates and grains especially in processed form. For example, a bagel's basic ingredient is a grain such as wheat.

Wheat has some healthy minerals and vitamins (although not as much as people usually think and outweighed by it's negative characteristics) but after it's been processed in a factory it has almost no nutritional value at all. The outer husk or bran layer and the germ have both been removed. Besides this some of the oils and fat are removed so that the only thing that is left is the endosperm from which flour is created. Flour is useful in that it can be used to make many different products. However it has very little nutritional value and this is why factories have to add vitamins and minerals back into the flour through a process called enrichment. Unfortunately after baking most of the vitamins are broken down and become useless.

Because the bagel is made out of something which is already completely broken down there is nothing for your digestive system to do except immediately convert it into sugars which causes you to get hyperglycemia (too high blood sugar). This makes you feel good for a short time, but then your pancreas needs to create insulin to lower your blood sugar. This causes a huge crash
in your energy levels (hypoglycemia) which causes your body to want another hit of sugar from something made of flour, quick burning carbohydrates or grains.

So you can see your body is experiencing a roller-coaster ride because of the huge spikes in blood-sugar and then insulin. It's the start of an addiction to sugar (and the foods that get converted to sugar). And the worst thing is that a spike in your insulin causes your body to store fat. So you can see that it's not how much you eat, but what you eat.
