How to Calculate a Circuit Breaker Program
- 1). Determine your eligibility for the program by checking if you satisfy the criteria listed on the "Do I qualify for Form IL-1363 benefits?" webpage.
- 2). Fill out form IL-1363 up to Line 23 to determine your total income.
- 3). Find the next-higher figure under the "Household income" heading of the "Grant estimate chart" in page 8 of the instructions for Form IL-1363.
- 4). Find the largest number smaller than or equal to your yearly property tax bill under the "Property tax" heading of the "Grant estimate chart" on page 8 of the instructions for Form IL-1363.
- 5). Check the entry in the "Grant estimate chart" corresponding to the column you found in Step 3 and the row you found in Step 4. Divide that entry by 2. That is the amount of the Circuit Breaker grant you are eligible for.
