    • 1). Find the total serum protein measurement, usually expressed in g/dL, which stands for grams per deciliter. According to the National Institutes of Health, a normal total serum protein reading should fall between 6.4 and 8.3 g/dL.

    • 2). Convert all protein group measurements from a fraction to a percentage by moving the decimal point two number places to the right.

    • 3). Multiply the total serum protein by the relative percentage of each protein fraction or protein group listed on lab work.

    • 4). Compare all globulin levels to a normal values range chart, noting value ranges may vary among different laboratories.
