Flashlight

• A flashlight from home can help create a quick and unique lightning costume. Start by dressing in all black, including black shirt, pants and shoes. When night falls, hit the streets or attend a party in this outfit with a flashlight in hand. Make the lightning strike by flashing the light across your face or on the ground. A strobe light can also be used to create an entire lightning storm.
  
  

Glow in the Dark

• Create a lightning costume that will really shine using glow-in-the-dark paint. Buy an all-black outfit, such as a sweat suit or leotard. Use a pencil, chalk or piece of tape to design a lightning bolt across the front of the outfit. Consider expanding the bolt down the leg, as well. Then use a paintbrush to fill in the design with glow-in-the-dark paint. When it's dry, go outside to light up the night with your costume.
  
  

Cardboard

• Create a removable lightening costume using cardboard. Find two large cardboard boxes and break them down into long pieces. Sketch a design of a lightning bolt on each one and cut them out with scissors or a box-cutting knife. Paint the design yellow and outline the shape with black paint. Poke two holes in the top of each bolt and tie them together using ribbon or string. Put the design over your head to complete your lightening costume.
  
  

Struck by Lightning

• Create a costume that shows the power of lightning by dressing as someone struck by a bolt. You can use any outfit in your wardrobe for this costume, although golfer clothes---including plaid shorts and a polo T-shirt---add a nice detail. If you don't mind ruining the clothes, burn tiny holes in them. Otherwise, line the outfit with soot to resemble char. Find a prop, such as a golf club, and bend it into an S-shape to look like it was electrocuted. Finally, put a little black makeup around your eyes and gel your hair to stick out in every direction.
