How to Calculate Gross Income
- 1). Find your hourly wage on your pay stub. We're going to use a very easy example of $10.00 an hour for this article.
- 2). Multiply your hourly earnings by the number of hours worked each day to find your daily gross earnings. A full time day is typically 8 hours; in this example 8 x $10.00 will be $80.00 per day.
If you don't work full time or have varying hours, it will probably be easier to calculate your weekly gross income. - 3). Find the weekly gross earnings by multiplying your hourly wage by the number of hours worked per week. The standard full time work week is 40 hours, so in this example, 40 x $10.00 will be $400.00 per week.
- 4). Calculate your gross earnings per year by multipling the hourly wage by either the number of weeks per year (52), or the number of hours worked per year.
A standard 40 hour week translates to 2,080 hours per year, so in our example, the annual gross earnings will be 2,080 x $10.00, which is $20,800 per year.
If the total number of hours per year worked is not full time, or 2,080, then simply multiply the hourly wage by the number of hours actually worked to reach the gross annual earnings. - 5). Calculate gross earnings for more than one job by going through the same process for each job and add the totals together.
