How to Keep Rattlesnakes Out of Your Garden
- 1). Plant your garden in an open area, away from logs, old tree stumps or piles of lumber. These are places that rattlesnakes like to call home. If snakes cannot live near your garden, they will not be as inclined to visit it.
- 2). Cut out all brush, tall grass and weeds in the area, particularly any that grow in your garden. These make terrific hiding places for rattlesnakes.
- 3). Remove the food sources around your garden. Eliminate rats, mice and even squirrels will cause the snake to look elsewhere for its prey.
- 4). Close any burrows that rats may have created by filling them in with sod or dirt. Rattlesnakes like to move into abandoned burrows.
