The Princess Beanie Baby created after the death of Princess Diana is one of the Beanie Babies that has many people thinking they have a treasure. And I don't think there is anything more confusing than to try and figure out what version one has, what they are worth or when they were produced.
Just know they are not worth what most sellers try to convince you of, in fact the folks over at the Ty Collector say most of the Princess Di Beanies are worth less than $50.
Yes, you read that right. That's why whenever a price or value is being mentioned in the four figures or above, take it with a grain of salt. Anyone can put a price on anything for as much as they want. It's what they actually sell for that counts.
There certainly are Ty Princess Beanie Babies that sell for more than the $50. value mentioned above, but if one looks around you will also find them for much less.
In the past quarter (4th - 2013) on eBay approximately 4000 Princess bears were offered for sale. They had a sell-through rate of 13.22%. Which means only thirteen of every hundred even sold. Depressing for those who have a stock pile of Princess Bears.
Out of the ones listed as sold on eBay, there is one listing that offered the beanie for $5000 in the Buy it Now category -- that is factored into the average selling price of $28.73. Take out that one price for one Beanie and the average price drops dramatically to under $20.
Remember, a seller can put any price they want to on an item.
But that doesn't mean it's the value of said item. Also be dubious of sellers who have these extraordinarily high prices and claim they've been sold in a Buy It Now -- especially when they are new to the auction scene.
