Create a space decorated in the bright colors of the Sunny Patch friends as the perfect setting for a Miss Spider birthday party. Add a hollow tree, buggy games and a Miss Spider cake to throw a Sunny Patch party that will delight all the little critters in attendance. - Cut two circles from yellow card stock paper. One circle will be Miss Spider's head and the other will be her body. Cut two small circles for her eyes from blue card stock. Assemble the body, head and eyes and glue them all together. Use a small hole-punch to punch leg holes in the body, then string black pipe cleaners through the holes and twist them to attach. Write the invitation text on the body.
- Visit the Miss Spider section of the Nick Jr. website (see Resources) to find free printable invitations that feature Miss Spider images. Follow the website instructions to print these from your home printer.
- Use a yellow, green and blue color scheme when choosing balloons, streamers and paper goods such as tablecloths and napkins. Use poster paint and foam board to make signs or a banner that says, "Welcome Every Buggy to the Sunny Patch!" Line a pathway to the party entrance with pinwheel flowers.
- Create your very own hollow tree from a large appliance or wardrobe box. Cut an entrance hole large enough for kids to crawl through and paint the outside of the tree with craft paint.
- Print Miss Spider coloring pages from the Nick Jr. website. Place a page at each place setting along with crayons. Pick up miniature flower pots and craft paint at the craft store. Have kids paint their pots at the start of the party and allow them to dry while the party continues. Fill them with gummy bugs and send them home with the kids as a party favor.
- Play classic party games with a Miss Spider twist: Draw a spiderweb on foam board or poster paper, and use one of the homemade Miss Spider invitations to play "Pin Miss Spider on Her Web."
Play Freeze Jitterbug. Instruct guests to dance their best jitterbug when the music plays and freeze whenever the music stops.
Play the classic party game of "Duck, Duck Goose!" but change the names to "Miss Spider, Miss Spider, Junebug!" - Prepare a box of cake mix according to the directions on the package. Pour the batter into one 8-inch round and one 9-inch round cake pan. Bake and cool as directed. Assemble the cakes on a large sheet pan so the smaller cake serves as the head and the larger cake serves as the body.
Add yellow food coloring to a can of white cake frosting and mix until you reach a desired shade of yellow. Frost the cakes, then add black licorice legs to the body and gumdrop eyes to the head.
