How to Apply for Food Stamps in Floyd County, Ind.
- 1). Visit the Floyd County Division of Family Resources office at 800 East 8th St. in New Albany Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:30 to apply for food stamps (these are the office hours as of November 2010).
- 2). Complete an application. Ask for assistance from Division of Family Resources staff if you need help.
- 3). Take proof of all household income, including paycheck stubs and proof of things like Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments, with you when you apply for food stamps. Also take proof of living expenses like rent or mortgage and utility bills, proof of any court-ordered child support paid by you or someone else in your household, proof of child care or elder care expenses and proof of any medical bills for elderly or disabled household members that are not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. The Division of Family Resources may need to see other kinds of documentation as well, depending on your circumstances.
