- 1). Load the palm sander with 180-grit sandpaper. Sand the Micarta until the laminate appears dull.
- 2). Wash the Micarta with a trisodium phosphate cleanser, using a sponge. Rinse the Micarta with wet rags. Wait two to three hours for the Micarta to dry.
- 3). Protect surfaces adjacent to the Micarta by covering them with masking paper and painter's tape.
- 4). Put on a respirator.
- 5). Coat the sanded Micarta with melamine paint, using a roller equipped with a high-density foam cover. Wait a full day before placing anything on the Micarta surface.
- 6). Wash your roller with mineral spirits.
