Children's activities in Houston, Texas, run the gamut from traditional theater performances of classic Christmas stories to events that take advantage of Houston's December weather and proximity to waterways. Children don't have to miss out on playing in the snow, either, though they are celebrating the holidays in Houston's mild winter. The entire family will enjoy accompanying the youngest members to these festive Christmas activities around the city. - Children who live in Houston might miss out on a White Christmas unless they attend the Snow Flurry, where they can play in the 80,000 pounds of snow that fall each winter at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The snow play areas are divided by age so that young children up to the age of five can safely play away from the older children, who have their own area designed for ages 6-10. Adults and older children are required to stay out of the snow areas unless their child needs help. Some of the rambunctious play that might occur in your snowy backyard are prohibited at the Snow Flurry event -- snowball fights and rough play will get a child removed from the area. You won't have to deal with long lines around the holiday season as each ticket corresponds to a specific time; arrive just before your designated time, and when your ticket is called, your child can enter the snow play area.
