How to Make Loud Noisemakers
- 1). Open the canned food with a safety can opener. A safety can opener leaves the edges of the can smooth and safe, and you can put the lid back on the can.
- 2). Pour the food in the can in a storage container and put it in the fridge. Wash the can with warm soapy water. Dry the can with a towel.
- 3). Pour the aquarium gravel into the can. Place a thin line of epoxy around the top edge of the can. Wait for 2 minutes before putting the lid back on the can. Give the epoxy 48 hours to completely cure. You might be tempted to use larger rocks thinking the larger the rock the louder the noise, but this would be a mistake. Large rocks make a deep thudding sound when shaken in the can, whereas the small pieces of gravel produce a high-pitch rattling noise.
- 4). Fold the sheet of tissue paper in half widthwise. Roll the can up in the center of the tissue paper like a piece of candy is rolled up in its wrapper. Twist the paper at the ends of the can and tie a piece of ribbon around the ends to secure the tissue wrapper. The tissue paper and ribbon are purely aesthetic, so you can skip them if you aren't concerned with the appearance of your noisemaker.
