How to Make Cactus Juice
- 1). Boil the water in your saucepan. Make sure the water is boiling before dropping the cactus in, so they immediately start releasing their juices.
- 2). Place the pear cactus whole,j with the skin still intact, into the saucepan of boiling water. They should sit for up to 3 minutes, enough time to let the natural juices seep out.
- 3). Pour the water out, and place the cactus on the cutting board.
- 4). Peel and cut them into small chunks. The smaller the chunk, the easier it will be for more juices to release into the water.
- 5). Put the pear chunks back into the pan. Cover them with water until no pieces are sticking out above the water. Continue to boil them for a few minutes, then remove them from the heat and let them sit.
- 6). Pour the combination through the cheesecloth, so only the liquid drains into the bowl. You can put some pressure on the chunks to squeeze as much juice out as possible.
- 7). Add some sugar and lemon juice to add extra flavor. Only use enough sugar to make it slightly sweet, and do not over-use the lemon juice.
