How to Achieve the Best Results With a Corner Round Router Bit
- 1). Put on your protective gear.
- 2). Cut several pieces of scrap wood to use as test blocks. Use a table saw to cut pieces 3 inches x 12 inches, the same thickness as your project material. You will use the test blocks to set the router bit profile exactly how you want it before using it on your project.
- 3). Unplug the router for safety and then install the corner round router bit into the router.
- 4). Adjust the router so that the depth of cut will be approximately 1/8 inch of material for the first pass. This minimizes wood tear-out, which may ruin your project.
- 5). Set your scrap material on a non-slip router mat. This will help hold your test block so you can router an edge of the wood from left to right. Make your first pass with the router.
- 6). Adjust the router to cut another pass that will remove about 1/4 inch more material.
- 7). Repeat Step 6 until you have cut the profile with the corner round router bit that you want to use on your project. Save the test block for a quick setup for the next time you want to use this router profile.
