    • 1). Push the back of the refrigerator away from the wall. Unplug the refrigerator cord.

    • 2). Locate the drain pain underneath the condenser coils on the lower back of older refrigerator models. If the refrigerator is newer and the coils and pan are not visible on the refrigerator's back, remove the bolts from the access panel on the bottom of the refrigerator back and remove the access panel.

    • 3). Slide the drip pan out of its slot if yours is an older refrigerator with coils on the back. If it's the newer type, pull the drip pan toward you, and up, to remove it.

    • 4). Empty the pan water down the kitchen sink drain or into the toilet.

    • 5). Clean the drip pan with soapy water and slide the pan back into position on the refrigerator. Put the access panel back into place on the bottom back of the refrigerator, if applicable, and tighten all the bolts, using a nut driver.

    • 6). Plug the refrigerator cord in and push the refrigerator back up against the wall.
