How to Create a DVD From an SWF File on a Mac
- 1). Download the free Perian software (see link in Resources). Click on the program's icon when it has downloaded to install the software onto the Mac's operating system so that the Quicktime Player can read and play SWF files.
- 2). Download and install the free Quicktime Player program to the desktop of the Mac (see link in Resources). Download and install the free Burn program to the desktop of the Mac (see link in Resources).
- 3). Run the Quicktime Player program. Drag the SWF file into the Quicktime Player's icon in the dock found either at the side or bottom of the screen. Wait as Quicktime Player loads the SWF file.
- 4). Go to "File," "Save As" and name the Quicktime file you are about to make in the top column of the window that opens. Press the "Save as a self-contained movie" button. Click on "Save" to save the Quicktime file to the Mac's hard drive. Quit the Quicktime Player.
- 5). Run the Burn program. Drag the Quicktime video into the open space at the center of the Burn program. Click on 'Yes" when the window pops up asking if you want to convert the Quicktime video into a DVD-compatible file. Wait as the Quicktime file is converted into a DVD-compatible file.
- 6). Select the "Video" tab at the top of the Burn program's window. Drag the DVD-compatible file into the center space of the program. Name the DVD-compatible file "DVD" in the open column at the top of the program next to the icon of a DVD. Select "DVD-Video" in the drop down column next to the "DVD."
- 7). Click on the "Burn" button at the lower right of the Burn program's window. Wait as the DVD tray ejects. Put the blank, recordable DVD disc onto the DVD tray. Press the "Burn" button on the window that has appeared over the Burn program. Wait as the DVD tray goes back into the DVD burner and the Burn program starts to burn the video to the DVD.
- 8). Quit the Burn program when done. Press the "Eject" key on the keyboard to eject the DVD disc. Put the DVD disc into a DVD player and watch the video made from the SWF file on a Mac.
