Stop Worrying About What is in Your Drinking Water & Start Enjoying It
We've all heard about the possibility of our tap water containing chemicals and contaminants that are undesirable for healthy human consumption.
Depending on where you live, there could be anything from excess Chlorine to even Lead being in your water.
We know that the tap water isn't the healthiest to drink, so where do we turn from there? Bottled water? Although an upgrade from tap water, bottled water comes with a whole slew of different issues: pollution, possibly dangerous chemicals from the plastic - even the pain in the neck it can be to lug those bulky grocery store water crates home.
Join me as we investigate some healthier, more eco-friendly alternatives for cleaner drinking water.
Bottled water is fantastic in regard to the fact that it provides water to people who perhaps do not have access to potable water.
Also, the general paradigm shift in the West for bottled water to be the refreshment of choice over unhealthy traditional beverages such as beer & soda is admirable.
What most people do not understand is that bottled water is actually dangerous to our environment and our bodies.
The truth of the matter is that the demand for bottled water has skyrocketed, so major water bottling plants & facilities have begun to look into more cost effective ways to bottle the product without sacrificing the quality of the water.
There answer? Sacrifice the quality of the bottle.
Now I know it's been a while since high school or college chemistry for some of you, so I'll keep it straight-forward: Today's water bottles contain chemicals that tend to "leak" into the water that they contain.
Now the jury is still out on how dangerous these chemicals are to the human body, but let's face it - one of the driving factors to drink bottled water is the fact that it is supposed to be cleaner than tap water, right? Dangerous to humans or not, it is statistically proven that about 75% of the empty bottles end up in the garbage on the way to the landfill or on the side of the road.
Although they are made to efficiently recycle, they are rarely disposed of properly.
These grim statistics seem to point to the fact that bottled water is hurting the in a very fast and aggressive way due to the growth in demand of this product.
My final gripe against bottled water is the fact that I live in a 3rd story apartment.
It is not fun dragging those seriously heavy crates of water up 3 flights of stairs every single time I go grocery shopping.
When I was a kid, my parents would "bribe" me into hauling the water around by offering me a small token of gratitude - a $5 bill, permission to go out with my friends, etc.
But it hardly seems fair nowadays as I have no children of my own! All of these factors drove me to the point where I decided that the bottled water risks far outweighed their benefits, so I decided to look for alternatives for clean water.
Home filtration systems are an excellent alternative for clean water.
No plastic bottles with chemicals leaking into your water, no leftover trash to be discarded once you drink the clean water, easy & cost effective maintenance - the list goes on and on.
There are many different forms of home filtration systems, so it is important that you do some research and find the right system for you and your needs.
Start living a cleaner, healthier life free of the ambiguous chemicals, danger to the environment, and the hassle of hauling heavy crates from place to place.
Invest in filtering your water at home and experience truly pure water for the first time!
