    Supervision

    • Billing managers interview, hire and train new billing department employees. They plan and issue work assignments. This includes directing work duties and conducting performance appraisal on a periodic basis. As supervisors, they have authority to reward or discipline billing department employees based on work performance. They also approve requests, create monthly financial reports, coordinate function of the billing department and ensure the department complies with all financial policy and procedure accordingly.

    Management

    • Management duties include managing the billing process to minimize billing errors and bad debt. Billing managers musts review all bills for accuracy and make corrections as they apply. This includes performing adjustments and edits as needed. They manage timely request, approval, processing and disbursement of legitimate refunds. Billing managers manage the month end close-out by bringing systems up-to-date with proper figures and other relevant information.

    Resolution

    • Performing duties as a billing manager may mean providing resolution measures when needed. He resolves billing discrepancies at the request of customer. The billing manager has authority to subtract a late charge from the customer's bill if it is in the best interest of customer. He also resolves administrative issues relate to billing as they arise.
