Have Hip Hop Rappers Lost Their Edge?

Doesn't it seem like all the hip hop rappers of this modern age-has lost their edge on the microphone. Nowadays it seems like they have absolutely lost the soul in their music. They seem like they hopped on the mic and said the first thing that comes to their mind-without thinking it through properly. They really just put together some bubble gum type lyrics that they believe everyone will chant with them easily, but they are really missing originality because they are making rhymes based on how they think most of society is thinking. So in other-words they lack being themselves as well as fail to deliver their true message about their own personal life.

Other hip-hop rappers are using auto-tune to disguise their voice or transform it into a smoother melody that they believe will attract a wider audience. Unfortunately, with all do respect-they are more so hurting the rap industry rather than helping it. In my opinion it really sounds like they are whining on the track rather then rapping. Overall they are making hip hop fans run away in the complete opposite direction. All this whack modern day rapping has lead to a major decrease of deals and promotion by the larger records labels who can surely introduce you're music to the world in a short time period. There's really no heart in the music no more, like I said earlier these rappers are basically making music to fit in rather than being unique and different.

Why Have The Hip Hop Rappers Lost Edge?

There's no one specific reason why hip hop rappers have lost their edge, but there are quite of few I can think of. I believe they have too much access to drugs nowadays, which is ultimately effecting their sound in a bad way. They probably can't think correct. That's probably why you hear a lot of whack records. I also believe it's the money too, because when majority of there hip hop rappers get their hand on a little bit of money, they begin to relax in the studio rather than turning up to another notch. So they basically give a lot less effort on each track because they are so paid and they believe they don't have to work as hard as before when they first started.

Another reason is the rap models. A lot of artists lose complete focus at the task at hand when all the rap models are around them. Ultimately they start spending a lot of time with these raps girls, in fact way too much time. They begin to lay down fewer and fewer tracks in the studio, leading to a lot less sales. Thanks to those rap models distracting them completely.

Rappers could of also lost their edge on the mic purposely too, because record labels are really starting to 'low-ball' a lot of superstar rappers as far as the money go. All I can say is that the recession effected them too. However hip hop rappers could be purposely delivering whack lyrics to get even with their record label.
