The Dakota, around since 1986, remains Dodge's offering in the compact pickup truck segment. For 2004, truck buyers can choose a Dakota Regular Cab, Compact Cab, or the four door Quad Cab. All three configurations are available as 2WD and 4WD trucks. The Dakota is the only model in its segment to offer a V8 powertrain.

Largest models, roomiest seating in the compact class.

Club Cab is the only Club Cab model in the compact segment to offer a full-size, forward-facing rear bench seat.

The "Stampede" package features custom, monochromatic front and rear body-color fascia moldings, ground-effect side moldings, 16" x 8" aluminum wheels, wheel flares and a rear stabilizer bar. The package is available on Regular Cab and Club Cab Sport models.

A value-priced SXT model comes standard with air conditioning and bucket seats. Its price is just over $17,000, which includes destination charges.
