Active IQ Academy has announced the launch of a range of new eLearning and online resources to support Exercise Referral students.

The Level 3 qualification is aimed at fitness instructors and personal trainers who wish to work with a range of special populations, including those with cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, musculoskeletal and mental health disorders.

The new resources will give learners further scope to build on existing Level 2 and Level 3 skills, such as instructing and coaching, helping to provide both an understanding of the causes of a variety of medical conditions and their impact on preventative and rehabilitative exercise programming.

Yvonne Cooper, Director at Active IQ Academy, comments: "This is the first time that eLearning and online resources have been readily available for this qualification and it marks an exciting opportunity for learners to supplement their formal classroom delivery and self-study. The online resources not only focus on key areas of the text, but also to allow learners to study at a pace that is comfortable for them, anytime, anywhere."

She continues: "Exercise referral is a vast area in terms of technical and factual learning, and allowing learners to absorb smaller chunks of 'modular' training will aid retention of knowledge. All of the online modules progress faster than traditional classroom delivery, because learners can skip material they already know and understand, and move onto the areas they need extra help with. The inclusion of audio, interactive content and quizzes not only consolidates learning and application, but also becomes the perfect revision tool."

With exercise referral schemes becoming commonplace across the UK and a number of new national guidelines currently in development, the importance of understanding the exercise referral process within the scope of professional practice is a key area of study for exercise professionals.

Julian Berriman, Research & Development Director, comments: "The Level 3 Certificate in Exercise Referral is a very modern qualification, both in terms of content and learning methods, and is now a pre-requisite for Level 4 entry to the Register of Exercise Professionals. The course content reflects contemporary industry initiatives towards greater integration with the health sector."

Active IQ Academy's eLearning is mapped to nationally accredited qualifications. The content of their eLearning is written by industry and educational specialists, and is available as full qualifications or individual units of qualification.
