Geography: Taiwan is an island off the southeast coast of Chinas mainland. Climates: Taiwan straddles the tropical and subtropical zones and has warm summer and mild winter. The climate is moderated by the warm water of the Kuroshio Current. There are more than 30 daily newspapers, two of which are English language publications, and about 1,000 periodicals. Other mainstreams of media consist of over 30 radio broadcasting stations and three television stations including the Taiwan Television Enterprises, the China Television Company and the Zhonghua Television Service.

History: The history of Taiwan can be divided into the following stages: Kingdoms (220-280) to the early Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368); its development during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and Dutch colonial rule (1624-1662); its development mandarin classes during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and Japanese colonial rule (1895-1945); and from 1945 onwards?

Since the Kuomintang government fled the mainland and ruled the island in 1949, the government of the Peoples Republic of China has claimed in a solemn stance that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. The process of peaceful reunification has become one of the most critical issues that touches everyones heart.
